What it means to you?
This stew has a lot of names. In South Alabama, it is called 'Camp Stew'. The origin is debated between Virginia and Georgia, but most people believe it to be from Brunswick, GA, hence the (other) name 'Brunswick Stew'. The name 'Alabama Stew' is because today, most of the places you will find it will be in South Alabama.
This will make a ton of stew for a large family gathering. It's sweet but also tangy, and can be made with various vegetables, depending on your preference. This is the recipe I had growing up, and what reminds me of being in the South.
